Hello class, and welcome to effective previews 101. Today we’re going to look at a movie preview that popped up within the last couple weeks. I’ve seen it online a few times, but today I saw it on the silver screen before Ku Fu Panda (which was alright, by the way). The preview is for a Christmas flick called Marley & Me, starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston.

To start off, I’m not saying that it will be a good movie, or that I will watch it. My point is that this is an extremely effective teaser trailer. I’m pretty sure this is what the marketing behind the film is going for in terms of their target audiences:
Females who will watch it because a) it’s a cute puppy, and b) it’s Owen Wilson
Males who will watch it because a) they’re forced to, and b) it’s Jennifer Aniston
Enough said.
